Nestled within the wetlands of Waiheʻe, Kapoho was once part of a thriving Native Hawaiian village system sustained by the interconnected relationship between loko iʻa, loʻi kalo, freshwater springs, and the surrounding ʻāina.

Our Work and Sites

Loko i’a Kalo @ Kapoho: Wailananakaaukuu (KPK & HILT)

  1. 2026 Finish 90% of Kuapa for Loko i’a kalo.
  2. 2026 Finish Manowai @ Waihe’e river.
  3. 2027 Finish Punawai, and kuapa. 
  4. 2027 June Ho’i ka wai.

Mala’ihi (KPK)

  1. Lo’i kalo restoration / ecological restoration. 
  2. A space for KPK to actively manage and build resources for KPK.
  3. Build programs with Na Leo Kako’o (Kaiapuni Papa).

Kekaulike High School (KPK/DOE/Kula Kaiapuni)

  1. Uhauhumu pohaku.
  2. Kukulu new sites and features for Kula Kaiapuni o Kekaulike.
  3. Internship and possibly gap year program.
